Southern & Western Tanzania
Mikumi National Park

Mikumi is the most accessible of Tanzania's southern parks, reached by a scenic road drive from Dar es Salaam, making it a favourite for shorter safaris. Its open Mkata floodplain is often compared to the Serengeti in miniature.

Buffalo, zebra, giraffe, and elephant gather along the floodplain in good numbers, with lion and the occasional pack of wild dog completing the picture, all within a park that comfortably fits into a long weekend.
