Lake Manyara

Set against the dramatic wall of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara National Park packs groundwater forest, acacia woodland, and an alkaline lake into a compact and scenic reserve. It is famous for its tree-climbing lions, a rare behaviour not commonly seen elsewhere.

The shallow soda lake regularly attracts large flocks of flamingo and pelican, while the forest fringes are home to troops of blue monkey and baboon, making Manyara an easy and rewarding stop between Tarangire and the Serengeti.
